Transfer Madness: To Cesc or not to Cesc...

...that is the question.

With reports that Alexis Sanchez and Guiseppe Rossi are going to go, if it all, for more than 40M Euros, I think it's high time Rosell and Barca focus their money and efforts on bringing one of Catalunya's own back home.

It's enough already... it's enough with the low ball bids. It's enough with the seemingly endless transfer saga every summer. And it's enough with seeing Cesc in red and white instead of blau and grana.

As our team (and more specifically the midfield) sits, we don't need the reinforcement that Cesc brings, but I think the long term security and added dimension he does bring will help ensure this current Barca team stay on top for as long as possible.

Xavi is getting to the point where he won't be able to play as many minutes as he's had the last few seasons. Yes we have Thiago coming of age, but he's still an unknown quantity. With Fabregas, we know that he can perform on the biggest stages and he also brings the strength and experience of the English Premier League, two qualities not many Barca players have. Also, getting him here this summer ensures at least 2-3 years of him playing alongside and practicing with Xavi. There's so much he can learn from the Maestro and incorporate into his own game to eventually become, to steal a phrase from the great Ray Hudson, the metronome of Pep's Barca.

Now, apparently, there are reports from England that Arsenal are willing to part with Cesc for a decent offer (no Rosell, 27M Euros is not decent), which would be around 35M-40M Euros. Seems like a no-brainer to me, if the reports are true. Arsenal finally seem open to negotiations, Cesc wants to return home and Pep has asked for him for a few years now.. everything is sitting pretty for our number 4 to finally return home and hopefully I'll be placing my order for a Black, #4, Fabregas jersey before the new season starts!

Do you agree with me? Think Cesc will take too many minutes away from Thiago? Think I've been drinking too much Cesc Kool-Aid? Let us know your opinions in the comments section!

Personally, not worth the ridiculous money... (If he REALLY wanted to come, he wouldn't have signed that extension.) Fabs, to me, seems like he doesn't care either way, he loves both too much, and seems like too nice of a guy to cause one group of fans to hate him by saying otherwise...

His contract expires in 2014, so we could either get him then for free, or get him in 2 seasons for much cheaper, either way then we have a much greater need for him... With the financial mess the club is currently in, we can't spend so much on players. 40m is a lot for a bench player.

We have bigger needs to fill than our midfield, IMO. The midfield is where some of the best products of La Masia come from, surely we can develop players we already have. (Thiago is obviously a talent, but don't forget JdS, Sergi Roberto, etc.) We need another forward, and a CB first. Not to mention, I heard the club as a whole is closing down some of the other sports and things, I agree then it's not right to spend so much on him.

I'd love him here as much as the next guy, but I can't accept that we should spend that much on him when other targets would be more valuable for the same fee... Just my 2 cents though.
